T o make the most of human resources, Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance Company has adopted a personnel management system along with a new administrative system designed to bring out the individual merits of each employee. Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance's effort to cultivate globalized work forces and to recruit foreign experts is well known. At Temple University in the United States, which has a world-renowned insurance education program, we opened an insurance training course to prepare our employees for the growing trend toward international cooperation and an open market system. Currently, more than 15 executives are set to be trained in this program every year.

Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance also invests in educating and recruiting high-profit specialists such as lawyers, medical doctors, CPAs, underwriters, damage assessors, and risk managers. To recruit from an overseas resource pool, we opened Korea's first summer vacation internship course for Korean students enrolled in American business schools. To get topnotch post graduate degree holders, we recruit actively among the Korean students and country nationals in locations such as Japan, Southeast Asia, and the United States.

Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance's efforts to develop human resources do not stop here. The Stargeo Team, a group of dynamic,"X-generation" individuals with creative outlooks, is providing fresh ideas about both managerial and non-managerial affairs, unrestricted by the unavoidable limitations of a company environment. To train the sales managers of the 21st century, we have adopted an in-house sales manager certificate system, which is the first in the business. In addition, we operate an Insurance College, Insurance Junior College, and Marketing Academy to nurture insurance specialists.
